Canada welcomes successful Business immigrants who can invest in businesses in Canada and are expected to support the development of a strong and prosperous Canadian economy.The Business Immigration Program seeks to attract people experienced in business to Canada.Immigrants are selected based on their ability to become economically established in Canada.The Business Immigration Program falls under three categories: Investors, Entrepreneurs, Self-employed.


Investors

The Immigrant Investor Program seeks to attract experienced persons and capital to Canada.In order to be eligible for the Program an individual must:

1.Have a Net Worth of $800,000CDN

You may also include your spouse’s assets.The applicantwill be required to make an investment of $400,000CDN in approved projects in Canada.The full amount of the investment(without interest) is repaid to the investor after five years.

Many potential Business Immigrants may have difficulty raising the liquid assets required in a short period of time.The investor has the option to receive a loan from a financial institution in Canada for up to70% of the

investment.

Besides the net worth requirement,the Investors will be required to prove that they have significant business experience

2.Business experience means

  • the management of a business and control of a percentage of equity of the business for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa,or
  • the management of at least five 5 full-time job equivalents per year in a business for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application for a permanent resident visa.

3.Pass interview, health and security checks.

The Investor Program is better suited for people who are obliged to constantly travel to and from Canada as soon as permanent residence is established.

The Quebec Investor Program is much faster compared to the Federal Investor Program.Immigrants who qualify under this category benefit from expeditious processing towards their permanent resident visa. Through their Immigrant Investor Program, Quebec welcomes thousands of experienced business people every year.


Entrepreneurs

The Entrepreneur Program seeks to attract experience persons that will own and actively manage business in Canada that will contribute to the economy and will create employment for at least one Canadian resident. Entrepreneurs must demonstrate business experience for at least two years in the period beginning five years before the date of application.The entrepreneur class applicant must have a legally obtained minimum net worth of $300,000CDN and are subject conditions upon arrival in Canada.


Self-employed

Self-employed persons must have the intention and ability to be self-employed in Canada and to make a significant contribution to specified economic activities .They are expected to contribute to the cultural, artistic or athletic life of Canada.

To be selected as a Business Immigrant,you must meet first the definition of the business class in which you are applying under(investor, entrepreneur or self –employed person).If you successfully meet the definition,you are then assessed against five selection factors(age, education,official languages and adaptability).The pass mark for all three classes of business is 35.The maximum possible score for each class is 100.

The Express Route to Canada: Nova Scotia Nominee Program.

The goal is to locate and encourage immigrants who will settle and work in Nova Scotia.
To qualify under the nominee program,an applicant must meet certain qualification conditions.Upon confirmation the issuance of a Nominee Certificate,the applicant will file immigration application at a designated Canadian Embassy.Under normal circumstances interview will not be required,and the whole process should take only six to nine months.Visas issued under the program are unconditional and non-restricted.
The qualification of  Nominees may be summarized as follows:
  1. The applicant should have reached the minimum age of 25 years,and be no more than   60 years of age at the time of his application.
  2. The applicant should have basic skills in English,or French and English.
  3. The applicant should have a minimum education of grade 12(or equivalent).
  4. The applicant should have owned (wholly or in partnership) and operated a business. Or,the applicant should have two years (in the previous 5 years) of management     experience.This experience may be in a business,governmental,institutional,or other organization.This either for profit or not for profit.
  5. The applicant must have legally accumulated,by his or her own endeavors,a minimum worth of $300,000CDN.Documentation is required,supporting the applicant’s minimum net and method of accumulation.
  6. The applicant must make a one-time,non-refundable economic contribution of  $128,800CDN.The amount will be held in trust and returned,without deduction or interest,if the applicant is refused Canadian residence visa.
  7. Upon visa issuance and subsequent landing in Canada,the nominee will be able to select a list of companies approved by the Province of Nova Scotia,a six-month middle management contract with a salary of $20,000.
  1. 8.At the time of interview,the applicant must state his intention of settling in the Province of Nova Scotia.
